Why should I
monitor my walk-in refrigerator? ......I'm in it all the time and
know when it is not working. Most walk-ins are not supervised 24 hours a day by the manager.
In fact, even a short term power failure, typically
late at night can render the entire contents unsafe and yet
appear perfectly normal if power returns before the restaurant
opens.
What is the
FoodWatch System and How can It Protect My Customers and My
Business?
FoodWatch was designed to guard against loss of
refrigeration caused by a wide variety of possible failures.
It will usually predict a failure long before it
happens.
The FoodWatch
will accurately and remotely measure the refrigeration efficiency
of walk-ins, stand alone refrigerators or food cases. The revolutionary
sensor technology monitors compressor run time with no connections to the
compressor. The FoodWatch system
also tracks the temperature and compares it to pre-programmed upper and lower
limits.
In addition, the FoodWatch learns and tracks defrost cycles in freezers.
The FoodWatch is connected to any existing telephone
line. When the line is not being used, the FoodWatch
relays its run-time information back to our Central Monitoring
Station where it may then be reviewed on your own private web page. It will measure the duty cycle, or how
long the compressor runs each hour and how many hours and minutes it runs in
total each day.
Imagine being able to forecast refrigeration problems days in advance of the actual failure!
Many FoodWatch
units can be connected to the same shared telephone line. The
FoodWatch makes perfect sense for Convenience Stores and food
franchises. Detect problems before the
temperature rises to unsafe levels. This allows service personnel
to make repairs while the walk-in is still able to maintain
temperature. All FoodWatch data is available on the web for immediate
viewing and download.
Each FoodWatch Display Module is capable of monitoring four separate coolers or freezers. Installation is accomplished in less than 10 minutes per walk-in using our new, wireless, battery powered Sensor Modules. The Evaporator Module is installed on the side of the evaporator using the included mounting kit. A small wireless antenna sends data to the Display Module up to 100' away. Power for the Evaporator Module is supplied by an ordinary 9 volt alkaline battery replaceable about once a year.
The FoodWatch contains a battery back-up system so it will
report power failures and keep reporting walk-in temperature
until power is restored for up to 24 hours. The Display Module All connections to the FoodWatch require
no complicated wiring and do not require any electrical
connections to the refrigeration system.
