                                  FoodWatch Unveiled at FS/TEC '98
New Product of the '90s Greatly Improves the Accuracy of Food Monitoring
Systems for Corporate and Independent Restaurant Businesses

(Clifton Park) FoodWatch, an innovative new product designed to forecast potential refrigeration problems up to a week in advance of the actual occurrence, will be unveiled at the Atlanta FS/TEC'98 trade show.

FoodWatch is a monitoring system that connects refrigeration compressor cycles to a centrally controlled computer system via existing phone lines. FoodWatch guards against product loss with a remotely programmable alarm capability that monitors temperatures 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The patent-pending FoodWatch sensor accurately measures the refrigeration efficiency of walk-in coolers, stand alone refrigerators, freezers and food cases. The streamlined FoodWatch system works by having the sensor attached to the outside of the compressor motor which then monitors the amount of time the refrigeration unit runs by sensing the field that surrounds the motor. The total system tracks the temperature both inside and outside the refrigeration unit, recording even the amount of time a door is left open for regular maintenance and use. Temperature data is pre-determined by the customer and are accurate in ranges of -55 to +150 degrees Fahrenheit.

This product can potentially save a foodservice owner thousands of dollars in overhead costs and food product liability, yet it is surprisingly affordable, said Ed Johnson, President of American IceBox Monitors, Inc. The simplicity of installation and total flexibility of programmable data, makes FoodWatch a unique addition in its field.

With the FoodWatch system installed, corporations and independent businesses can keep careful track of all locations, or monitor additional sites for compliance from the convenience of a central location. Central monitoring protects against inventory losses and prevents failures at any designated site. Additionally, FoodWatch helps dramatically reduce energy costs by ensuring optimum efficiency for refrigeration units.

Restaurant owners and operators growing concern over product liability is significantly alleviated by the installation of a FoodWatch system. The monitoring history of FoodWatch is an invaluable tool in proving adherence to HACCP in liability cases.

Johnson said that purchasing the new FoodWatch monitoring system is a small price to pay for piece of mind at closing time.

FoodWatch systems and installation are available from American Icebox Monitors, Inc., located in Clifton Park, New York.
